Nashville Program Defined

Don’t Just Do It- Do It Right!

“Never mistake activity for achievement” John Wooden

The goal of No-Excuse lacrosse is to provide an opportunity and venue for athletes having the talent and desire to compete at a higher level.  At the same time, creating memorable team experiences that develop players character and integrity.  Excellence, sportsmanship, and competitiveness define No-Excuse Lacrosse.  Through advanced instruction we strive to enhance the quality of lacrosse in the mid-south and showcase that quality to the lacrosse community at large.  Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the country, we hope to help that growth by developing quality players in Tennessee.

How does No-Excuse Lacrosse produce quality teams and players?

We maximize individual talent through an emphasis on team chemistry. We will encourage aggressive, and unselfish play offensively, a cohesive defense based on communication with a team-first attitude and clearly defined rolls.

No-Excuse teams will travel to some of the best regional and national tournaments in the country.  Advanced competition and high level coaching, will greatly improve every players game.  At the high-school level,  we will focus on maximizing collegiate exposure.  Players will learn what it takes to get recruited, and what is required to play at the highest-level.

What are you looking for when selecting players?

Simply,  players are chosen because they demonstrate qualities that will help their team win.  The criteria include, stick-skills, field vision, size and raw athletic ability.  Players must be coachable, persistent, determined, and have a positive, “team-first” attitude.

If a player is disappointed in his “non-selection”,  we highly encourage you to work hard to improve your game, your effort will be noticed.  Do not allow disappointment to discourage your effort, but rather use it to fuel your determination.

For the players selected, your hard work and dedication is not only expected but required.  Never allow your ego to get bigger than your game. Remember no matter how talented any player is ,”You are  only as good as your last game.”   There is always somebody that wants your spot.

*Roster selections are made at the sole-discretion of “No-Excuse Lacrosse”.

Tryouts are held throughout the fall as part of our Fall Clinic dates that are part of the summer registration.  Tryout Registration is free of charge and anyone wanting to play next season must be at tryouts.  If there is no way to make the tryouts, please let me know and we can move your tryout to the February practice weekend.  Please still register for tryouts either way so that I can plan for numbers when selecting the teams.  Make sure you carefully select the correct age group when signing up.  There is a US Lacrosse Age Group link on the webpage.

Basic Schedule

Tryouts in October, Practice weekend in Jan/Feb and another in May.  Practice will start mid-May for U10-U14 age groups and the last week in May for HS. Practices will end the last week of June which coincides with our final tournament. We will go to 3 tournaments during those six weeks and each team will practice 2x a week during that period.  Specific tournament dates and practice days are announced by February each year, maybe earlier.

Blue Chip

We will be joining with the Memphis program again this year to offer 2-3 Blue Chip tournaments.  These teams are for High School boys only, but we are looking into trying to do a Blue Chip event at some point this year for our younger guys.  These teams are selected by Pat Dimento and Josh Scouten and are invite only.  These are teams selected to go to recruiting events only and these rosters do change throughout the year based on many things, so if you are not invited early, keep working and pushing to go to a later tournament.  These are extra cost tournaments and you pay on a per/tourney basis.  We feel the tournaments we go to are some of the best team recruiting events in the nation and the most competitive.

The fees this year will be:

-$1650 for 14U and HS players

-$1250 for 12U

-$1000 for 10U

Payments can all be made online and paid at once or spread out over three payment periods. This year, the fees will cover:

-All Tournament Fees/Snacks/Drinks/Tents

-All the practices and practice weekends

-Uniforms, shooting shirt and other apparel that is TBD

-All Field rental fees and coaches

-Team is fully insured
